About Rhinoplasty

Discover a New You

Rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the functionality or modify the shape of the nose. This delicate procedure refines nasal morphology to create better facial harmony and balance. Adjustments can resolve functional problems, such as disturbed breathing, or aesthetic concerns related to the hump, tip, wings or deviation of the nose.
In short, rhinoplasty aims to harmonize the face, providing an integral solution to the discomfort felt around the nose.

Different rhinoplasty techniques are available, with variations. Here are some examples of specific rhinoplasties:

Open rhinoplasty is the most frequently used method, recommended for patients suffering from nasal deviation, asymmetries or respiratory problems, as well as for those seeking aesthetic improvements such as increasing or decreasing the size of the nose, removing a nasal hump or correcting the tip. This procedure, performed under general anesthesia, involves a small incision under the nasal tip, between the nostrils, allowing full access to the nasal structures for precise reshaping, particularly at the tip.

Closed rhinoplasty, also known as endonasal rhinoplasty, can be performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation. This method, with no visible scarring, is designed for patients requiring minor adjustments, mainly to the nasal bridge rather than the tip of the nose. Incisions inside the nasal cavity allow cartilage and/or bone to be sculpted to achieve the desired final result.

Medical rhinoplasty, it offers a non-surgical alternative using fillers, mainly hyaluronic acid, to smooth out a dorsal hump, harmonize the tip of the nose, or raise it slightly. Although less effective than surgery for major modifications, this temporary aesthetic approach can be an option for testing a nose restructuring before committing to permanent changes through surgery. Results last up to 24 months on average, offering a non-permanent alternative for those exploring aesthetic adjustments.

CONSULTATION FOR RHINOPLASTY

Experience the excellence of a Personalized Rhinoplasty Consultation

During your consultation for rhinoplasty, we will perform an external and internal examination of your nose. The quality of the skin, as well as the size, the shape, the profile and the tip of the nose, are important characteristics that must be carefully studied. It is recommended to have a clear idea of the desired appearance of your nose while keeping in mind the limits of cosmetic surgery. Sometimes, chin augmentation or eye lift surgery (blepharoplasty) surgeries helping to delay the signs of ageing can be performed during the same session to achieve a more enjoyable facial balance.

After Your Surgery

Healing Post-Surgery Journey.

When the operation is complete, a small splint is placed on the nose and removed approximately a week later. Effects such as swelling and discoloration around the eyes tend to subside after a week.
If you feel well, you can go back to work one to two weeks after surgery and use makeup at your discretion.
Sometimes the swelling can last for weeks or even months in some cases. In addition, numbness of the skin and mild nasal obstruction may occur, but these effects are usually temporary.

Sometimes revision surgery may be necessary to refine the result. Given the complexity of the procedure, we will discuss this at length with you during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Rhinoplasty is suitable for those who feel an imbalance between their nose and their face, especially those who avoid showing their profile due to aesthetic concerns. Possible defects of the nose, such as deviation, excessive length, hump, or a disproportionate tip, can be corrected by this procedure.Rhinoplasty is frequently performed in young adults, around the age of 20 or 30, although it can be performed at any age. Whatever the stage of life, rhinoplasty can improve a patient's well-being.

Before the procedure, the patient undergoes a complete evaluation including photos, a nose x-ray, a coagulation test and a pre-anaesthetic consultation. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis (morning in, evening out) or require an overnight hospital stay. Rhinoplasty is generally performed under general anesthesia, but can also be performed under local or regional anesthesia. The operation lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, often concluding with the placement of a splint over the nose and small wicks inside the nostrils, which are gently removed after discharge.

The post-operative effects of nose surgery are generally mild, often manifesting as :
  • Ecchymoses: Although moderate, their intensity varies from patient to patient, lasting an average of 8 to 10 days.
  • Pain: Very slight, or even non-existent.
  • Swelling: Moderate swelling persists for 10 to 15 days.
The splint is removed 8 to 10 days after rhinoplasty, and social visibility is possible 10 to 15 days after the procedure. Bruising and swelling are not apparent to those around you, allowing you to resume normal activities unnoticed. Thereafter, the nose continues to deflate over several weeks, without interfering with social or professional activities.
